A light drizzle added to the enjoyment of today's walk in Lake City. It hasn't rained in quite a while and the change was nice.

I started out at NE 145th Street and 35th Avenue NE. Across 145th in Lake Forest Park, I noted that the large 12 Degrees North Development had been completed. Walking west on 145th, I saw that a number of shops in the small strip mall on the northwest corner of Lake City Way were empty.

At 27th Avenue NE, I turned south and spotted a Little Free Library; it contained mostly children's books. Next I came to The Seed and Sharing Shack. At 143rd, I walked east and headed back to Lake City Way. The walk included most of the streets between 27th Avenue NE and Lake City Way from 137th to 145th.

I had not expected to find many tree-lined streets and well kept single family home still existing in this area but was pleasantly surprised many times, especially when walking down dead end streets. The large apartment houses, now typical for this neighborhood, were visible from some of their backyards.

Back on Lake City Way, I spotted some shops that were there 12 years ago including Walgreens, Starbucks, Brown Bear Car Wash, Mobile Electric Distributers and Lake City Picture Framing. I also saw empty shops, some with redevelopment plans.

A seven story apartment building is planned for this space.

A large apartment complex has already gone up north of that space. It houses a nail salon.

The area contained a few industrial looking buildings and a large number of small apartment complexes. There were also a few newer, more upscale townhouses, a large townhouse complex, a vacant lot with a building permit for four townhouses containing 12 units, a school bus barn, a Montessori Pre School and Kindergarten, ...

... Olympic Hills Church of the Nazarene, ...

... new sidewalks on the east side of 30th Avenue NE, ...

... and tiny Little Brook Park. I guess that is why the huge apartment complex across the street is called Promenade at the Park! The street is closed in front of the park but that is just a short distance.

There were also some street murals. These murals include Native American designs and may be welcoming...

... Sacred Medicine House which has broken ground on Lake City Way.

This walk was about 3.5 miles but it wasn't my only walk of the day.

I added about 1.5 miles by going to Magnuson Park and walking from the swimming beach to the dog park and back.

Dogs were playing and swimming; people were walking, picking apples, (one was swimming), a seaplane was taking off and boats were motoring.
