It was good to be back walking today even if the streets abutting I-5 were not the most enjoyable in the city. Walking from 123rd to 145th on the streets near I-5, I was very aware of the noise from the traffic and the changes due to the construction of the light rail extension. In spite of that, there were some tree-lined streets in the Haller Lake neighborhood west of I-5.

Northacres Park had some heavily wooded spaces and Lakeside School had lovely grounds.

The Haller Lake P-Patch was serene and a large parking lot for the Haller Lake United Methodist Church was behind it. I hope both are preserved but wonder about the rest of the area after seeing ...

... this sign across the street. There is already a lot of housing going in north of 145th Street near the light rail station which will open before the 130th Street station.

There is even a big parking garage going up on the east side of I-5. I noted that it is just outside the city limits. I'm not sure that any parking has ever been added for light rail stops inside the city limits.

In the Pinehurst neighborhood on the east side of I-5, I spotted golfers out on the Jackson Park course.
5th Avenue was closed to most cars between 130th and 145th. There were only a few spots with sidewalks but some nice looking landscaping is going in under the light rail. The North Seattle Church of the Nazarene is in this area so I guess church goers are allowed to drive here.

On this 7 mile walk, I passed Lil' People's World preschool, the Billings School, a gas station where the price was $5.39 per gallon, a Little Free Pantry and two Little Free Libraries. They contained children's books (some in Korean) and novels (one in Icelandic).
