The weather was great today as my husband and I rode the West Seattle Water Taxi to Downtown Seattle. We viewed  West Seattle, Mount Rainier, and the Seattle skyline during our 15 minute crossing.

Arriving Downtown, we admired the new Colman Dock and noted the changes along the waterfront - no more Alaskan Way Viaduct.

We walked the wider sidewalks, passing the Aquarium and its not yet completed Ocean Pavilion before coming to Pier 62. The Seattle Parks Department website states:

"The first piece of Waterfront Park to open, Pier 62 is one acre of flexible public space that will be programmed year round with cultural, recreational, and educational programs that celebrate all communities and cultures. It will serve as a vibrant place for activities such as yoga, soccer, concerts, festivals, and more as a preview of the broader scale with the full Waterfront Park."

We used the new Union Street Pedestrian Bridge to get to Western Avenue.

If I'd had my phone, I would have taken pictures of spectacular scenery and building projects during our approximately two and a quarter mile walk.

As we stood looking at construction in progress, a friendly local resident showed us a picture of the Overlook Walk which will tie all the elements together.
