Tangletown, in the Wallingford/Green Lake neighborhood, was the destination for today's walk. A friend, who came with me, told me the area got its name from the tangle of streets. We did get tangled up and probably walked some streets a few times.

This is a lovely area near Green Lake. There are sidewalks, curbs and tidy houses - some of them quite large. Most of the houses appear to be older. There are a few restaurants, cafes, and shops around 55th and Meridian.

We enjoyed glimpses of the lake and the shade of tree-lined streets.

We admired beautiful gardens ...

... and parking strip art. This pice admonished us to "Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning, the Devil says 'Oh no, she's up!' "

We wondered why this army of ants was on the move.

We were impressed with the inventiveness of using an old sneaker as a flowerpot ...

... and a tree stump as the base for a Little Free Library.

Good conversation and a delightful neighborhood made this 3.5 mile walk especially enjoyable. We spotted three Little Free Libraries. They contained children's books and novels as well as books on quilting, teaching reading, urban geocaching, and history.
