Yesterday's walk took me to the Cedar Park and Matthews Beach neighborhoods of Lake City. I spotted some colorful murals in the area close to 125th and Lake City Way.

I also admired this sculpture which has been on Lake City Way for decades. It was funded by the Forward Thrust initiative in the late 60's.

At 120th, I walked on a pedestrian path which appears to be substituting for sidewalks in quite a few neighborhoods.

Lots of large apartment complexes are being built in Lake City; not many are as attractive as Villa Appia.

I noted that Jalisco Restaurant is still in business but Lake City Auto Center is now just a large empty parking lot. A 405 unit apartment building is scheduled for 12554 Lake City Way. The Aqua Dive lot is still vacant but Dogwood Play Park next to it - "Dogwood Play Park is Seattle's original indoor/outdoor off-leash dog park and bar. For a $15 drop-in fee (per dog) your pupper can come play while you enjoy a cider, beer or wine."

Winding my way to the Matthews Beach neighborhood, I passed new, densely packed homes, lots where houses had recently been knocked down ...

... and paths where streets had not been paved.

Because I got so turned around in the Meadowbrook area, my walk was 6.5 miles. I passed one Little Free Rock Library and two Little Free Libraries. They contained novels, children's books and a book titled Is my Cat a Genius.
