Today's walk took my husband and me to the Northgate area. We didn't realize that we were also walking in the Maple Leaf area. It seems that Pinehurst, Maple Leaf, Haller Lake and North College Park are all included in "Northgate."

At any rate, we came across a number of one-way streets as we walked some streets between 5th and Roosevelt Avenues from 97th to 105th Streets.

We also came across quite a few streets designated as bike routes.

Dead-end streets popped up; we were able to walk around this revision on 102nd between 5th and 8th Avenues. We would have had to walk through the school yard of Olympic View Elementary to get from 97th to 95th.

We expected to find apartment houses, medical facilities, senior housing and the remnants of Northgate Mall along 5th Avenue, but we did not expect to find a row of neat brick homes ...

... or a neighborhood greenway along 8th Avenue.

The area is hilly and Roosevelt Avenue has a number of trees with lumpy trunks covered with moss.
We spotted a trail in some green space at the corner of 8th and 105th. We will walk that another day.

Our two mile walk was hilly and varied.
