My husband and I were back in Laurelhurst today, walking streets where it is easy to confuse the avenues for streets and streets for avenues. One of the first places we passed was Sun (Saving Urban Nature) Park. This corner lot was saved from development in 2005 by neighbors and the Cascade Land Conservancy.
We walked around Laurelhurst Elementary School and its colorful playground.
Cherry Blossoms were in bloom.
We discovered a footpath connecting the two ends of 45th Avenue NE between 50th and 54th Streets. We admired a birdhouse ...
... and were surprised by the number of townhouses which have been constructed since we last walked here.
It looks as if there are even more to come with six houses being proposed to replace one house across the street from those.
This area is hemmed in by Sand Point Way and Children's Hospital. The closer to Sand Point Way, the denser the housing.
Along this two mile walk, we passed Saint Stephen's Episcopal Church, Seattle Community Church and one Little Free Library. It was packed with novels, books on how to sell and business management as well as a guide to biblical prophecy.
