I saw one house under construction before heading toward Lake City Way. The closer I got to Lake City Way, the less tailored the streets appeared.
Passing Bill Pierre Car Dealership, there were fewer cars than 12 years ago.
Across Lake City Way, Uncle Ike's cannabis dispensary has replaced Kennelly Keys in the shop that was once Ryan's Fine Furniture. It may have been a gun shop between Ryan's and Kennelly's. 12 years ago, the were medical marijuana shops before it was legalized in December 2012. There is still a car wash north of the building but there is now a large sink hole behind this businesses. A strip mall to the south is home to a copy center, a smoke shop and Italian, Teriyaki and Sub Sandwich establishments.Walking east along the street just south of Uncle Ike's, I was able to walk were a car couldn't go and I came to a nicely treed area.
Veering onto 110th street, I discovered a sidewalk without a curb. There was no space to park on the north side of this two-way street and it was hard to tell if parking were allowed on the sidewalk.
I was in a school zone, I guess that's why the sidewalk continued to 30th Avenue where I spotted Nathan Hale High School, Jane Adams Middle School and a drainage ditch filled with rainwater. Turning south on 30th, I found more sidewalk which I used to cross Thornton Creek which was running on this rainy day. 30th became Ravenna which I took to 100th Street.
Heading east on 100th, I passed the Waldorf School before coming to ...
... Maple Leaf Lutheran Church and ...... the houses that were built were Maple Leaf Elementary once stood. Coming to 35th Avenue, I turned south and proceeded to 96th were I walked east.
Along 96th, I spotted a pumpkin height measuring board and a few new or remodeled houses. Some fit into the neighborhood better than others.
Working my way to 95th Street, I checked out the hole in the ground at 45th Avenue before heading to the Burke Gilman Trail.
Along this 5 mile walk, I noted Halloween decorations, a backyard cottage and two Little Free Libraries, both in Victory Heights. They contained Fiction, Nonfiction and a Vegan Instant Pot cookbook.
