Today's walk took me to the Sand Point Country Club neighborhood. It was a smoky day so the view was not as spectacular as it can be but I did see quite a few people out walking (mostly women) and driving around in golf carts (mostly men). Dog walkers, groundskeepers and golfers were also out. I noted some Halloween decorations and one hole where a huge foundation had been poured.

Maybe school was out because I saw a number of children playing softball - many wearing Mariners' team shirts.

Houses were almost universally well kept and I spotted some beautiful gardens.

Other than a few house remodels, the thing that may have changed the most is the number of basketball hoops. I don't remember seeing back to back hoops 12 years ago and I don't remember seeing so many. Maybe the demographics of the neighborhood have changed. That's one thing I'm learning - not all of the changes are evident just walking the streets of a neighborhood.
Leaving the country club neighborhood, I walked east on NE 75th Street, observing the tidy sidewalks, curbs and underground utilities of the View Ridge neighborhood.

I wound my way down hill to 58th Avenue where overly narrow sidewalks took me to the Burke Gilman Trail. The walk along new streets ended here but I wanted to check my steps-per-mile count and speed so I walked a measured mile along the trail.

Using my verified step count, I calculated that I had walked about 5.5 miles.
