The smoke was still bad today and I had chores so we opted for a short walk in an area where we had rented a house in 1978. The feel of the neighborhood hasn't changed too much but the houses and the people have.
We started near the corner of NE 95th and 35th NE and went north and west. The south side of 95th now has sidewalks and curbs, a change from 12 years ago. As we walked this area of dead end streets, some connected by footpaths, we spotted a few rooftop solar panels, newer, larger homes, construction and the house we had rented.
Taking this footpath, we passed a tree swing and a bench before exiting one block over.
On this short walk, we came across two Little Free Libraries. The one in the Police Public Call Box contained, among other things, a Japanese Dictionary and a book on the teachings of Abraham. The one inside the microwave oven contained children's and adult books.
We ended by walking down the alley behind the house we had rented, thinking of old neighbors.
Our walk wasn't long (between one and two miles) but we did spot houses decorated for Halloween and it did bring back memories.
