Today's walk took us to Meadowbrook Ponds. A quiet sanctuary in Northeast Seattle. The ponds have been enlarged during the last 10 years. It seems the hundred year flood is happening more than once every hundred years now.
Seattle Public Utilities did a great job landscaping the ponds and neighbors come to watch a variety of birds and, sometimes, beavers.
A boardwalk allows walkers to stroll over the ponds.
Neighbors have installed benches in honor of beloved local residents.
Visitors to a unique formation can listen for echos ...
... which bounce off a metal disk across a section of the ponds.
The neighborhood around the Ponds is home to John Rogers Elementary School (which explains why a few street have sidewalks) ...
... and Korean Peace Presbyterian Church.
... a Little Free Pantry, ...
... a Little Free Library ...
... and multiple houses going up on what had been single lots.
Crossing over to the east side of Sand Point Way, we spotted a Little Free Library which appeared to have a Little Free Trinket Cabinet attached.
We spotted one last Little Free Library before ending our walk of over 8,000 steps (probably about 3.5 miles).
