Today's walk took me to the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Most of the streets I walked were lined with trees and they all had sidewalks and curbs.

I started and ended the walk near St. Joseph's Church and School on 16th between Aloha and Roy. The church parking lot was full and two Sunday morning morning Masses were advertised.

Crossing 19th at Roy, I spotted Trinity Christ Memorial Baptist Church which advertised a Sunday morning service but the Church appeared to be closed. Then I noticed a sign on the door, indicating that today's service would be held Antioch Baptist Church. A door or two north, was a sign for The Bridge Christian Fellowship. Its door was open but it was pretty quiet and I didn't see anyone around.

Walking east on Roy, I turned south onto 20th. After passing a Rest Area that was most likely set up by the property owner,  I spotted a Little Free Library and a few modern multiplexes that appear to have replaced modest homes.

I came to Meany Middle School and Miller Park where an adult soccer game was in progress. I walked around the playfields which took me to 19th and Thomas. The encampments that had covered much of this corner are gone.

Heading north on 19th, I passed Miller Community Center but noted four separate piles of broken glass on the sidewalk. One of the piles was right beside a car whose passenger side window had been shattered.

Continuing north on 19th, I passed the Country Doctor Community Clinic, El Cuento Spanish Immersion School and a new building that houses a restaurant, a cafe, what calls itself a "general store" and a few other shops.

I passed more restaurants, some with outdoor seating, Fuel Coffee and Books (which did have shelves of books inside) and the Russian Community Center of Seattle.

There was a line outside Macrina Bakery & Cafe (which, I am pretty sure was not there 12 years ago). Across 19th, the Greek Restaurant has been replaced by a dental office. I continued north on 19th to Prospect, then turned west to walk a few blocks on 16th, 17th and 18th. This is an area of large, stately, well-kept homes. As I had noted years ago, parking does not seem to be a problem because there are no driveways. Most of the houses have alley access.

This area had a tree house, a few tree swings and two more Little Free Libraries. Peeking in, I noted a few GRE and SAT prep books and a book for women runners. I think I'll start looking in all the Little Free Libraries to see if it tells me anything about the locals.

Today's walk was over 6,000 steps (probably between 2.5 and 3 miles). I did note residential building in progress. Homes on the northern end of this area seem to be renovated while those on the southern end appear to be replaced by multiplexes. I doubt that any of the replacement housing is as affordable as what it replaced.
